The Squaw Valley Ski Resort in Olympic Valley, California, is one of the largest ski areas in the United States, and was the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics. It is the second-largest ski area at Lake Tahoe, (after Heavenly), boasting highly-advanced chairlifts as well as the only Funitel in the United States (A Funitel is a type of high speed aerial lift used to transport skiers). Because of the resort’s popularity, the entire community of Olympic Valley is commonly referred to as ‘Squaw Valley.’ 

Squaw Valley USA is located at the end of a stunning alpine valley high in the Sierra’s and has a base elevation of 6300 feet. It is a winter playground for all ages. Skiing in Squaw Valley offers over 4000 acres of terrain and often receives 40 feet of snow.

Skiing in Squaw Valley is legendary for some of the steepest terrain and deepest snowfall in North America. The endless snowfall, with an average of 450 inches each year, classic California sunshine and diverse terrain make skiing in Squaw Valley the perfect winter ski choice!

The European-style Village at the base of the mountain offers dining and shopping year round. Gold Coast, accessed via the Funitel, features two levels of restaurants, decks and bars.  Squaw Valley’s resort village lies tucked beneath towering mountain peaks that cradle a vast coverage of ski terrain.  The village is stylistically Alpine, with winding walkways, rustic cafés, vibrant restaurants and bars, enticing shops and bohemian art galleries combined to create a stylish yet laid-back ambience.
