Yet another gem tucked away in the interior of British Columbia – Big White promises fine, dry snow, high alpine skiing, sunny weather and mild temperatures. Canada’s largest totally ski-in/ski-out resort with a record for masses of dry light powder and mild temperatures. At 5,700 ft Big White is the highest Canadian ski resort and boasts no snowmaking equipment – average snowfall is 24.5 ft. A great resort for families, children 18 and under stay free, children 5 and under ski free. All ski lifts have a green run off them.
Big White has over 2,500 acres of excellent beginner and intermediate terrain, plus a superb ’ski-in, ski-out’ family orientated village. If you were looking to bring your family or friends to North America for a taste of the good stuff this would be the perfect place to begin.
Big White has some unique features that make it a very good choice for families. All the accommodation is ’ski-in, ski-out’ – very convenient when parents may be responsible for lugging not just their own gear but their kid’s skis too. There is a state-of-the-art children’s centre, serviced by the ‘Happy Valley Gondola,’ home to the Kid’s Learning Zone, a fantastic Tubing Centre, a Mini-Skidoo Centre and Skating Rink. There is also a cosy day lodge that the kids can nip into to warm up. And if you can’t get your kids to leave at the end of the day there is an ‘After Dark’ programme, so that they can continue the fun and you can sneak off for a romantic dinner.
