You will only scratch the surface of the region’s possibilities in a week. The snow cover here is exceptional. With high altitude slopes and man-made snow on the lower pistes, good skiing is ensured through until late April.
St Anton however has something many other resorts don’t – character! Despite being a Mecca for keen skiers and après-skiers it has retained its traditional Austrian charm but St Anton’s real attraction is the magical variety of challenging skiing with fiendish blacks, exhilarating off-piste and bumps. When powder and spring snow conditions are right the off-piste here is unrivalled. Ski to the bus stop at Rauz for the quickest access to Zürs and Lech, 7 and 15 minutes away.
There are lots of lively discos and bars, which keep going from 3 pm to 2 am. The resort is an ideal choice for the hard-drinking, disco-loving, keen-for-action holiday maker who can stand the pace of getting to bed late and being up for the first lift – it’s not for those who like a quiet life and gentle, uncrowded slopes.
